Weirdly, I didn’t want to draw a Mammoth for the prompt of Sketch A Day, so instead I sketched the portrait of Wolfgang Van Halen from the hard-rock band Mammoth. Also if you are wondering, he is the son of Eddie Van Halen. I decided to keep a part of the mic as sketched (the ball part in the front of the mic), as well as the his clothes and guitar straps.

I used th Derwent graphite 9H to do the contour sketched of Wolfgang Van Halen in my sketchbook, I then used my usual Faber-Castell Jumbo 9000 (especially HB and 4B) to do the shading and hairs, while using a blending stump too. I finally used by Faber-Castell Pitt graphite 14B do do some of the hairs, the inside of the mouth and some contours of the mic, including his m tatoo in his right arm. I ended by doing some highlights using my Tombow Mono Zero eraser.

All portraits of famous or well-known people I have uploaded on the blog so far: Herbert George H.G. Wells, Vinnie Jones as Bullet-Tooth Tony, Sharon Rooney from My Mad Fat Diary, Johnny Depp as Captain Jack Sparrow, Joe Strummer, Jimi Hendrix, Fern Brady, Benedict Cumberbatch as Sherlock Holmes, Benjamin Zephaniah, Sanjeev Bhaskar as DI Sunil ‘Sunny’ Khan, Alan Ritchson as Jack Reacher, Bill Skarsgård’s as The Crow, James May, Emily Campbell, and Henry Cavill.
