I sketched this portrait of Jimi Hendrix, one of the best guitarist of all time. After sketching the face of Jimi Hendrix, I was planned to draw the clothes, but when I looked at my sketched, thinking of how I would fill up the clothes, I realised that I enjoy this style of sketching by adding values only to the skin and hairs, not to the clothes, keeping the clothes as minimal sketches.

I used my usual graphite pencils Jumbo 9000 on my A4 200gr sketchbook. This time I didn’t went to crazy on the dark values, and used a blending stump to blend the graphite, and a Tombow mono eraser to erase the graphite adding highlights. I used a touch of white Posca pen for the eye highlights.

I am continuing to update the list of portrait I sketched so you can see them by clicking on their links: Fern Brady, Benedict Cumberbatch as Sherlock Holmes, Benjamin Zephaniah, Sanjeev Bhaskar as DI Sunil ‘Sunny’ Khan, Alan Ritchson as Jack Reacher, Bill Skarsgård’s as The Crow, James May, Emily Campbell, and Henry Cavill.
