Sketch A Day app had the sketch prompt Fern. I don’t know much about fern, probably because English is not my native language, so the first thing coming up to my mind was Fern Brady the scottish comedian. I also now know that a fern is a type of plant, une fougère in french. Yet I still sketched Fern Brady’s portrait, or at least, attempted to sketch Fern.

I used my usual Jumpo 9000 graphite pencils on my sketchbook and blended the shadows and values with blending stumps. I did had to erase a lot of value with my mono zero eraser but also to the point of using a kneaded eraser because I went way too dark on the values. I then used a gold and a red Posca pen marker to do the gold highlights on the hair and eyes, and the red lips.

For the list of portrait I sketched we have in addition to this one: Benedict Cumberbatch as Sherlock Holmes, Benjamin Zephaniah, Sanjeev Bhaskar as DI Sunil ‘Sunny’ Khan, Alan Ritchson as Jack Reacher, Bill Skarsgård’s as The Crow, James May, Emily Campbell, and Henry Cavill. I have not finished to upload the reste of my already sketched portraits.
