Last week I join a live drawing course at the Cornerstone in Didcot. I joined for 2 reasons: learning to stop focusing on details and sketching faster. I didn’t join since the first lesson as I wasn’t aware of the existence of the class. I think I join at the 3th or 4th lesson.
Last week, not only I did my first live drawing session, but I also use for the first time willow charcoal. I did used a charcoal pencil once, but it is very different then using willow charcoal. The session is composed of 6 quick poses followed by two long poses.

I am really happy with the results especially for a first time. The teacher helped me on some perspective and proportion. I loved so much the use of willow charcoal that after the class, I bought Coates willow charcoals: 30 short sticks, and 25 medium sticks, as I didn’t know what really represent the size, and it is a cheap medium to buy. Since I purchased the charcoal, I drew a self portrait that I will post in this blog later. It is part of a series of drawing around the thematic of suffering of chronic pain. I also attended my second live drawing and will share my sketches soon in Capybara Monster.
