I am in the Sketch A Day app that propose a text prompt daily to sketch or draw. The first April 2025 prompt was Strength so I immediately though of drawing a female weight lifter and who else is better than the amazing Emily Campbell. On the day I am writing this blog post, she got a British breaking record of winning the fifth European title in a row!
Unfortunately for me, I probably didn’t do good justice to her as it was a difficult drawing and I only started to learn to draw portrait. I used the picture of Emily Campbell from David Levene for The Guardian as a reference.

I used my usual Faber Castell Jumbo 9000 on my sketch book and added some popping color with my Posca marker pens. For blinding the graphite I used basic blending stumps and for the highlight, I used the monozero eraser.
