Viking knotwork leather quiver

As I am doing archery using a long bow, I am making leather accessory for archery, like the leather arm guard I did. The next step was obviously making a leather quiver! I bought few patterns for it but settle on this specific viking knotwork leather quiver by Dark Horse Workshop, he also posted a tutorial video on Youtube to help in the making of this project. It is also thanks to this video that I started to learn leather tooling.

For this project I bought my first full hide from JW Wood Leathers. I used Fiebings Pro dye in color black and yellow to dye the leather, Fiebings antique medium brown to antique the viking knot. To treat the leather at various stages of the process I used the usual trio: Neatsfoot oil, resolene and tokonole. I discovered the Chicago screws thanks to the video I mentioned above and now I used them quite a lot including in this patter. I did add glue contrary to the video. I haven’t had problem so far with the quiver, but I can surely see why it would be an important step, as one of the screw in another project (a dice bag) have tendency to unscrew itself. I haven’t lost the screw yet but not far off each time. I will add glue to it next time.

While the project is big in size, it is actually simple to do and very fun, and ideal for archery.
