I got into Celtic and Norse design as you can see with the leather quiver and hairpin I made. So I decided to make a belt using a dragon design from the Celtic And Old Norse Designs book. I followed the excellent Youtube video from Corter Leather to make the belt. However as I don’t have a strap cutter, I bought pre made leather straps on Amazon as well as a 16mm skiving knife to be able to make the leather belt.

The main problem I had was that the belt is massively huge! I wanted to make it loose a bit so I could use it in renaissance fair or equivalent. But despite my big size, this belt is just to big! I also encountered couple of other problems. The dye kind of washed off in some part weirdly and despite using my usual Fiebing Pro Dye and antique with the usual Neatsfoot oil, Resolene and Tokonole for the edge. I didn’t skived enough the end of the belts so it was still bulky as it is a thick leather. I also tried to glue the part where the leather end bend to encase the belt buckles and it didn’t work, I eventually added some screws.

Basically, it wasn’t a success at all.
